Sandwich, MA recently joined the Commonwealth Connect program, becoming part of the wide network of Massachusetts towns that offer a quick and easy reporting tool for citizens.
Sandwich chose to partner with SeeClickFix because it was seeking to improve its communication with the public regarding snow plowing issues. Through discussions with the state, SeeClickFix was recommended through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Community Compact technical assistance grant.
One of the most exciting features of this partnership is the the ease of use and the real-time cluster maps that will automatically be generated by the reported issues. This will enable the Town to better focus on particular snow plow routes that need more attention, and provide for improved efficiency in our Department of Public Works when interacting with the public. It will also allow for improved satisfaction by the public/taxpayers as a result of this faster and better communication.
This change in service to citizens means they will now have a single-point-of-contact to report their snow and ice issues to the Town. Each citizen request will now automatically: (a) get to the appropriate staff person; (b) be acknowledged; and (c) receive follow-up confirmation when the issue is resolved. This was not always the case in the past due to all the various methods of communication in which people voiced their concerns.
